Homet, who has been bedridden since harvest-time when she was grievously beaten by her enemies, requests the King's grace concerning an acre of land from her marriage with a piece of land for which her husband John bought with the £14 which her father gave him at their marriage to buy the same piece or another of the same value in the parish of St Sampson, and which the bailiff seized into the King's hand because eight years ago her husband was in France acquiring wine, which she has on the oath of twelve loyal and worthy men of the same parish, and she does not know any other reason why she should be disinherited.

Since the petitioner's husband was always overseas, and she herself was always at peace and here [...] therefore before the king.The land should be returned to the woman with grace.

The hand and format, particularly of the endorsement, is similar to other petitions in this file from 1299, and which probably relate to the Channel Islands eyre of 1299-1300 (see Crook, Records of the General Eyre, pp.191-2).
