Nature of request
Le Botiller, who was with the rebels against his will for which the King seized all his lands, recounts how as soon as the King came into Gloucestershire and proclaimed that all should return to his grace and peace, the petitioner stole away from the rebels and went to Gloucester and took the oath and found pledges that he would never oppose the King again, and thereon he had a writ to have back his lands and to go with the King, at his own cost, until his enemies were destroyed, and the King then ordered him to accompany him to Scotland, at his own cost, in hope of pardon, to the great burden of his wife and children. The petitioner requests that he be released from paying 200 marks with which he was charged by Staunton in Gloucestershire since he is also charged in the common fine with 45 marks.
