Hillary, who as lord of the manor of Scrivelsby should perform his service [of the office of royal champion] at the coronation of each King, requests that since it did not please the King that he perform this service, that the King will enter on record that the petitioner was ready to perform the said service, so that no damage will come to him or his tenants, and that he may have his fee.
