Peritz requests remedy since at Lacy's request he sold a horse to la Mare to the King's use for £40, which £40 la Mare, in the presence of Sandale, promised to pay from the King's money on the Nativity of John the Baptist, 1297, but he has not paid it.1)
Nature of endorsement
Sandale should examine the letter.2) The constable of Bordeaux should be ordered to pay him and receive the Earl's letter from him.3) Sandale has examined the letter in which is contained the sum of £40 sterling and on which is endorsed 60s, so that arrears are £37. And a writ thereon should be sent to the constable of Bordeaux ordering him to pay without delay from the issues of Gascony and to keep the letter which will be sent under Sandale's seal.
