Nature of request
The people of Devises request that the King grant them the said town for the ancient extent, as they had in the time of Edward I, and that they can have the usages and customs which they had in times past, such as electing their own bailiffs and having full return of writs.
Nature of endorsement
This petition should go to Chancery, and they should show how they used to hold the town, and justice should be done.
