Date
[c. 1318]
Description
Petitioners
Samson de Mulsfen (Mousen).
Name(s)
de Mulsfen (Mousen), Samson
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Mousen, [Northumberland]
Bamburgh, [Northumberland]
Northumberland
Scotland
Nature of request
Mulsfen requests that he be pardoned the rent that he pays to the castle of Bamburgh and to the exchequer in Northumberland for the manor of Mousen for the past eight years since he has taken no profit from it because it was entirely destroyed by the Scottish enemies.
Nature of endorsement
Coram Rege.
Note
Dated to c. 1318, with reference to SC 8/62/3053, a similar petition from the same petitioner which was dated 1318 on the guard (Docs. Illus. English History, p. 44). Since this was a time of heightened Scottish raiding across the English border the date is highly plausible.
