Nature of request
Langeleye, who inherited the keeping of Cornbury Park in the forest of Wychwood for £7 yearly, requests remedy because on 2 June in the tenth year of his reign [1317] the King ordered him by writ to deliver the keeping to la Chaumbre, then keeper of the manor of Woodstock, which he did, yet the petitioner is still charged with the aforesaid £7. He requests that the keeping be restored to him and that he be discharged from the said payment for the time that the lands were in the King's hand. He also requests remedy against the bailiffs and keeper who cleared his meadow adjoining Cornbury Park, called 'Shirford', worth 10 marks yearly, which he holds of other lords, and who also fished his fishery there worth 5s yearly. Langeleye also requests that the King grant him the waste of the forest which was rented out at 20s. yearly in his father's time and a piece of wood in the same forest.
