Nature of request
Rameseye requests that whereas the King by his letters patent granted him the keeping of the manor of Toft Monks, in the King's hand because of his war with France, from Easter in the sixth year of his reign [1405] for life during the war for 100 marks yearly, and now a French monk named Huglyn has a patent of the keeping of the same manor during the war for 100 marks yearly, that since the manor is not a priory and no prior or divine service pertains to it, that the petitioner be restored to his estate and he will pay an extra 20 marks yearly. If the King discharges him from the maintenance of Huglyn, he will pay an extra 40 marks yearly.
