Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/264/13166
Date
[c. 1336]
Description
Petitioners
Alice Beler (Belers), late wife of Roger Belers.
Name(s)
Beler (Belers), Alice
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Beler requests remedy and that her husband's heir not be disinherited during his minority, because whereas Edward II by his charter, confirmed by the King, granted her husband Framland Hundred forever for £12 18s. 5½d. yearly, and the King then granted her keeping of the hundred because the heir was underage, by virtue of which first Roger and then she have carried out all distresses, summonses, attachments and executions of writs, orders and commands of the King in the said hundred, until last year when the King granted various lands to his mother Queen Isabella including the yearly farm which Roger's heirs pay for the hundred of Framland, by reason of which the Queen's bailiffs have encroached to themselves the return of writs, executions, distresses and attachments in the said hundred.
Nature of endorsement
Because it appears by the copy of the charter granted to the Queen, read before the council, that nothing was granted to her except the yearly farm and she should have or demand nothing in the hundred except that farm, she should be ordered by writ, containing the effect of this petition, to order her minister to stop making such executions in Framland hundred, to allow the petitioner to make such executions and all other things pertaining to the hundred, and not to intermeddle in the hundred, provided the petitioner pays the said yearly farm to the Queen.
