Nature of request
The prior and convent of Norwich request that whereas there has been a dispute between them and the men of Norwich, with respect to a plot once called the land of St Michael and now called 'Le Tomeland' and 'Ratonerowe', that the King will assign certain men to examine the convent's muniments and to establish the boundaries of this place.
Nature of endorsement
[Cancelled] Since this business was tried before the King, the roll should be examined etc. and, the record and process having been viewed, justice should be done.Carleton, Ormesby and Howard should be assigned to examine the plea and hear the reasons etc., and the findings of the inquisition should be sent to the Exchequer.

Note
Dated on the guard to 1305, with reference to CPR 1301-7, p. 351 and p. 357, an oyer and terminer and commission of enquiry in the dispute between the petitioners and the burgesses of Norwich. The matter was settled by 1306, when the petitioners and community of Norwich agreed to hold the land open and common (CChR 1300-26, p. 73). Henry de Lakenham was prior of Norwich from 1289 to 1309.
