Description
Petitioners
William de Hulle (Hull); Joan de Hull, wife of William de Hull; Adam le Bowyer.
Name(s)
de Hulle (Hull); de Hull; le Bowyer, William; Joan; Adam
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William and Joan de Hull and Bowyer request remedy since by writ of right they demanded a tenement in London by inheritance, from which tenement they were deforced by Thomas, Robert and Richard, who said they were in the Queen's service, and that they not be disinherited.1)
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council, if it pleases the King, that when such protections are continued for so long (such as three, four or five years) that it could lead to the disinheritance of the demandants that the King should grant that they make general attorneys.2) Coram Rege.
Places mentioned
London.
People mentioned
Thomas de Hockele of London
Robert [de Hockele], brother of Thomas de Hockele
Richard [de Hockele], brother of Thomas de Hockele.
Note
No firm context has been established for this petition, which is therefore dated impressionistically, on the basis of the hand and the use of French in the endorsement, to the second quarter of the fourteenth century. The reference to the queen therefore remains ambiguous.
