Nature of request
The prior and convent of St Mary, Huntingdon, recount how Brunton impeded the assize of Toseland, so that no verdict could be passed as to whether the prior and convent were the true patrons of the church of Southoe, to which the prior had presented Hemingford, in 10 Edward I [1281-2], nor could the prior have justice on this unless he agreed to pay 100s. yearly to Chertsey. They requests restitution since the obligation was made against their will, together with the £30 which Chertsey has so far received from them and the £40 which Chertsey made him spend in the said plea by his delay, with damages and expenses.
