Le Poleter requests that the King consider the great hardships which he has suffered in the King's service and in the defence of Carlisle from the Scots, and the poor estate of both Carlisle and Cumberland, and grant him letters of safe-conduct for himself and four of his men to go into Scotland and retrieve their cattle and other merchandises taken by the Scots and also to bring back other merchandises found there which will assist in the defence, such as arms and victuals.
