Abbots of the Cistercian order in England.

Nature of request
The abbots of the Cistercian order in England request that:1) the King grant that they may enter their own fees and profit from them, so that they are not alienated to strangers;2) whereas they are all generally absolved by their privileges from all the power of ordinaries so that none can excommunicate them nor summon them other than on matters of faith, that the king grant them that no letter of caption may issue against persons belonging to their order through the wrongful procurement of ordinaries and, if any is obtained, that it be invalid except in the case of faith;3) whereas they and their servants used to be quit of payments for permission to cross the sea, that the King grant that they may be free and quit this side of the sea as they are the other side.
Nature of endorsement
Before the king. For the abbots of the Cistercian order.1) The king is not advised at present to grant this but if anyone wishes to make a specific request the king will take advice on it.2) On the matter of caption let the customary procedure be followed.3) As to the payment for passage let past practice be followed.Before the king on membrane 4.
