Nature of request
The prior and convent of Kirkham request that whereas their churches, lands, goods and possessions were destroyed by the Scots, especially in Northumberland where they were accustomed to take 500 marks yearly in aid of the maintenance of their house but they have had nothing for fifteen years, and these said enemies have come to Malton and entered their priory and stole all their moveable goods and burned their crops, that the King pardon them from the tenth demanded of them from their temporalities and spiritualities, which amounts to £47 15s 10d.1)
