Nature of request
The people of Thorney and Wigsley state that they and the hamlet of Broadholme used to respond and present together at eyres and elsewhere with four people and the reeve until the last eyre at Nottingham when the prioress of Broadholme brought a writ that she and her tenants did not need to do service to the king, so that the justices of eyre stopped proceedings against them. The petitioners claimed that they could not present or answer without the aid of Broadholme, but the justices would not allow this and amerced them. They request remedy and that they be discharged of their service as the prioress has been discharged.
