Nature of request
Bourdon requests that the King do his will regarding his grant to the King of his wood of Rhotteridge forever, which wood is near but outside the bounds of the forest of Melksham, in exchange for the hundred of Grumbald's Ash with its lawdays forever, by which grant Ufford was ordered to enquire into the true value of the said wood, finding that it contained 26 acres of wood, 82 acres of underwood, was worth 5s an acre, contained 45 oaks each worth 8d, and is the primary home for the wild beasts of the forest who graze in its underwood, and the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, as ordered, certified to the King what the hundred returned yearly.
