Mere requests that whereas he purchased a writ ad quod dampnum to grant to the King land and rent in Mere, for supplying a chaplain singing masses in the church of Mere for the souls of Edward I and Margaret and of the petitioner and Eleanor, his wife, by which inquisition it was found that the tenements were held of the King in chief, but neither the treasurer nor the chancellor will take the lands and rent without the King's command, that the King will take the said lands and rent.
