Mortumer recounts that Roger Mortimer, late lord of Chirk, Penkelly, Blaenllyfni, Dinas and Narberth and other lands in Wales, and Marden, Winforton, Tedstone Wafer, Clifton, Hopton Wafers, the limits and park of Rowley, Hampton Wafer, Stanton Lacy, Harcourt and Worthen and in other [townships] in England, such that he was of the adherence and the quarrel of Thomas, late Earl of Lancaster, for which affiliation the King ... took and imprisoned Roger, lord of Chirk, and seized the said lands and held them until ... [Mortimer], lord of Wigmore, Earl of March, ... and made him nearest heir to Roger Mortimer, lord of Chirk, ... in the said lands with his own lands and has kept them. Roger Mortimer, lord of Chirk, requests that he be received as his heir and that justice be done to him.1)
