Description

Name(s)
Lord of Lalanne, Arnold Raymond (Arnaut Ramon)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Arnold Raymond, Lord of Lalanne, states that he, Arnold William de Casaus, Lord of Saint Martin, and Arnold, Lord of Beaudos, have been condemned to pay a fine by the Seneschal of Gascony, in their absence and without due process of law, because of the war between the Lord of Saint Martin and the Vicomte de Maremne and the Lord of Bessant, and that because of this the Seneschal of the Landes has taken their lands and goods into his hand, and has put sergeants into their houses who take great wages from them. And they had to find mainpernors to be at the ordinance and will of the Seneschal of Gascony, but these mainpernors have been arrested, their lands and goods taken into the King's hand, and sergeants put into their houses. He asks that these condemnations might be remitted, and the sergeants removed from their houses and their lands and goods returned to them.
Nature of endorsement
The Seneschal of Gascony is to be written to, that if any error can be found in their condemnations, that is, if they were condemned without being summoned, or some other error is present, then he is to have what has been wrongly done corrected in due form.
