Nature of request
Bernard de Lebret states that the King gave him half the town and castle of Sainte-Bazeille in heritage, but they had previously been given to another by the King's ministers in Gascony; Berard backed down to avoid a dispute, and was granted £130 sterling from the customs of wine from the Gironde in compensation, until he could be provided with lands to the value. He has requested [certain] lands and the Seneschal and Constable have been ordered to provide information on this, and have provided a certification of their value. He asks that this might be examined and that he might be given these lands; with provisions for if they are worth more or less than £130.
