Description

Name(s)
de Oreford (Orford), Henry
Addressees

Nature of request
Henry de Oreford states that when John de Hastinges was Seneschal of Gascony, he sued an arrest against the people of Brittany coming with their goods to the Duchy of Guyenne, for damages done to him by people of the power of the Duke of Brittany, and this was put into execution at Bordeaux and elsewhere. Then it was decided for various reasons by the King's council in those parts that the arrest would be put into respite for a certain time, during discussions with the Bretons. This time has now passed and no satisfaction has been given to him. He requests a remedy, so that he can have recovery according to the purport of his letters of marque.
Nature of endorsement
The Seneschal of Gascony is to be ordered, with an iteration of the letters of marque and of the orders given on this to the Seneschal of Gascony and others in authority in those parts at the time, to give him justice and a suitable remedy.
