Nature of request
[This petition is damaged.]Peter de Grauntsoun states that he was granted £500 in exchange for his release to the King of his rights in the islands of Jersey and Guernsey. He received the £500, but it is now being demanded of him by summons of the Exchequer as if it had been a loan. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
A writ is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer containing the effect of this petition that if they can establish that the payment was made for our lord the King for a debt that he owed him and not otherwise, then they are to discharge him.
