Fraunceis, Manent
Addressees

Nature of request
Manent Fraunceis states that he petitioned parliament requesting payment for a purveyance of wheat made to the King's father in France, of which he was robbed at sea by the Flemings. It was agreed that if he could prove that the robbery took place, then he should be paid; and he has proved this, as is returned in Chancery. But despite a writ of Chancery and three letters of the privy seal, the Treasurer and Chamberlains of the Exchequer have not given him payment or assignment for this. He asks the King to order the Chancellor to give him letters attesting the value of the wheat, and writs to the Treasurer and Chamberlains to give him payment or an assignment.
Nature of endorsement
This petition, together with the inquisition, is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, and, when they have examined the petition, the inquisition, the commands and all other evidence mentioned by the petition, they are to give him payment of the debt, so that he is reasonably served without delay, and no more complaints come to the King for this reason.[A previous endorsement has been deleted] This petition is to be sent to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer, and the inquisition which has been sent to Chancery is to be sent there; and when they have examined the inquisitions, commands and other evidence mentioned by the petition, they are to have ordained for him to be served as reason demands.
