Nature of request
Thomas de Ryse and Walter Frost state that they lent the King ninety-eight and a half marks for his war in Scotland, which he promised to repay, and that they have sued to two parliaments and had two writs to the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer to give them payment or an assignment for this sum; but the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains have done nothing. They request payment or an assignment.

CPR 1338-40, p.407 is 23 January 1340, CCR 1339-41, p.351 is dated 12 February 1340, and p.423 is dated 21 June 1340. None of these is relevant, but they give an idea of when the petitioners were active, and show that they lent the King money on more than one occasion.
