Nature of request
[This petition is slightly damaged.]John Foleiaumbe, Roger de Stafford and John Larcher state that Robert Jorce, sheriff of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, imprisoned them without warrant until they had made fine with him; and the Queen's people of High Peak also complain that the sheriff imprisoned them and extorted money from them. Similar sums were also taken from others who could be granted bail under the law, while people of ill repute were set free on bail. As a remedy cannot be provided while the sheriff remains in office, they ask that he might be expelled and another put in his place.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have his recovery in Chancery as the law provides in such a case.
