Nature of request
Manent Fraunceis states that he has had several writs under the great seal and letters under the targe to the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer to give him payment or allowance for a purveyance made by him in France to the King's father. When the King returned to Newcastle after the battle of Berwick he ordered the Chancellor and Treasurer to examine the matter and put an end to it, and they examined it and agreed that he should have payment, but nothing has been done, because of the death of master Robert de Ayleston, who had been ordered to make payment. He requests letters to the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer to give him payment or an assignment without delay.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains are to be sent a writ, reciting the form of the other writ, that if they were given such orders then, when they have seen the writ previously sent to them and the inquisition mentioned by the petition, they are to give him payment or an assignment according to the form [of the previous] writ.
