Description

Nature of request
[This petition is damaged.]The Abbot of Notley makes two requests:1) He states that he and his predecessors have been seized of two cartloads of firewood from the forest of Bernwood, of the grant of the King's progenitors, until the King sent his letter under the targe to the Keeper of the Forest to cease delivery of this firewood. The Abbot asks that he might have the firewood as before, according to the grant made to him.2) He states that he held that chapel and hermitage of Finmere in Buckinghamshire in free alms, of the gift of Roland Malet, until the King ordered his escheator to take it into his hand, without giving a reason. He asks that he might be restored to possession.
Nature of endorsement
