Nature of request
Transcript of a writ from Edward III to the Treasurer, enclosing a petition presented to him by the community of the realm (a transcript of which is given in SC 8/161/13018), and asking him to summon the justices of both benches, the Barons of the Exchequer, and other members of the King's council at York, to take advice on the contents of the petition, and to do what seems best for the good of the people and maintenance of the peace.

Writ dated at Lincoln 24 September 1 Edward III (1327). Enclosed with SC 8/161/13018, which seems to have been presented at Pontefract shortly afterwards, probably in November 1327 (see SSSC, vol. V pp.cxxxii-iii (entry f)).
