Nature of request
The tailors and linen-armourers of London state that their guild has been brought into disrepute by foreigners who were not ruled by their guild-meeting. They ask that in future they might hold their guild-meeting every year to rule their craft and correct all faults, through the Mayor and the best and most suitable people of the guild; that no-one should have a stall or shop in their craft who is not a freeman of the city; and that no-one should be enfranchised except on the testimony of the best people of the guild.
