Nature of request

They ask that good people of their guild might be appointed to search their craft in the city, under the supervision of the Mayor's serjeants, so that if any false workmanship is discovered it might be forfeited to the Mayor and people. They also ask that they might similarly be able to search the fairs of Boston, Winchester, St Ives, Stamford and Bury St Edmunds, with forfeitures to the lord of the fair. And they ask that these points might be confirmed in this parliament, giving them a charter or commission for warranty.
