Name(s)

Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Robert de Mounthaut states that during his time Hugh Daubeney, Earl of Arundel, held the entire earldom of Arundel from the King, and also held Kenninghall, Snettisham, Wymondham and Buckenham by the sergeanty of being the King's butler on the day of his coronation, and that after his death his inheritance was divided up between four sisters, so that Kenninghall and Snettisham came to the share of Roger de Mounthaut and his wife Cecily, whose heir Robert is, while Wymondham and Buckenham came to the share of Robert de Cateshale, whose heirs are under age. Robert was ready to perform his office at the late coronation, but the then Earl of Arundel was wrongly allowed to do it. He asks that he might perform this office at the forthcoming coronation.
