Smallpox. Reports marked diminution in the number of fresh cases, which amounted to 38 cases in the last fortnight. Thinks that the end of the epidemic is not far distant. Reports also the progress of vaccination. States that the Bill dealing with the compulsory vaccination of infants and of juveniles under the age of 14 years will be introduced on 25 November. Informs that the employment of Dr J F Bridger (in charge of the Smallpox Hospital in Pelican Island) has been extended for a further three months.
