Solitary Confinement Sentences. Acknowledges receipt of the Under Secretary of State's letter of 13 October regarding a case in which the continuity of a sentence of solitary confinement was broken by the removal of the prisoner on medical grounds. States that the practice in England is to count time spent in Hospital towards the sentence. In a case where it is certified that the prisoner has caused his illness himself, he is liable to a prison punishment for malingering and to complete his original term of separate confinement.
