Administrative / biographical background

The Welsh Advisory Council for Civil Aviation (WACCA) was set up sometime before 1949, when it, with the Scottish, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man Airport Boards, formed Regional Advisory Councils to the Air Transport Advisory Council (ATAC). In 1960 ATAC's functions were taken over by the recently formed Air Transport Licencing Board. In 1972, responsibility for WACCA passed to the Welsh Council.
