3 individual petitions (Arthur McCannie, the prisoner's father) on behalf of Henry McKenna/Henry MCCannie, convicted in May 1827 at Glasgow of uttering a forged £1 banknote. There are certificates of good character from Alex McKinlay and William Brebner, governor of Glasgow Bridewell. Grounds for clemency: McKenna was found guilty despite evidence that he had not handled the note in question which had been received by a companion in the normal course of business and the sentence will leave his five children and his aged parents as unsupported dependants. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation. Annotated: 'Refused'. AO5. [Scot]
