2 individual petitions (the prisoner and Alex Balfour, Provost of Dundee) from Janet Robertson/Janet Wallace, convicted at Dundee on 4 May 1826 for reset of theft. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner is nursing an infant child, has no realistic hope of paying the fine and the situation is accepted by the sentencing magistrate. Initial sentence: imprisonment pending payment of a fine of £20. AN15. [Scot]
