1 individual petition (the prisoner) and 1 collective petitions (11 people, including ministers of the church, magistrates of Kilmarnock, and police of Kilmarnock) on behalf of Priscilla Kelly/Priscilla Wemyss, housewife, convicted at the Court of Justiciary held at Ayr on 19 April 1827 of uttering 3 forged banknotes. There are covering letters from John Couran and James Kegg[?], town clerk, Kilmarnock. Grounds for clemency: the notes were counterfeited by David Scott who received the greater part of the proceeds, Scott has evaded detection, the prisoner stole from want, has a young family to support and an infant child who will be transported with her if her petition is not granted. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: 'nil granted' and 'refused'. AM 25[a]. [Scot]
