Description

1 individual petition (the prisoner) from James Humphrie, convicted by the 'Lords of Assize' on 11 September 1826 of participating in a riot at Kilmarnock in August 1826. Grounds for clemency: the ill health of the prisoner exacerbated by ill treatment and prison conditions and the prisoner's pregnant wife and four children are entirely dependant on prisoner for subsistence. Initial sentence: 9 months solitary confinement. Annotated: 'Refused'. AM 22. [Scot]
