Report of David Rae on 1 individual petition (the prisoner) on behalf of James Youll/James Youl, convicted at the 'last' Jedburgh Circuit Court, Roxburgh, for the theft of 1 sheep. There is a covering letter to the petition from James Murray, Clerk of the Peace for Roxborough County. Grounds for clemency: first offence, he stole only a single sheep, very few prisoners are removed from Jedburgh and it is likely the prisoner will remain there for the whole 5 years, and wishes to serve in 'the sea service'. Initial sentence: 5 years transportation. Recommendation: to serve 5 years in HM. Navy. Folios 110-115.
