Evidences supplied by William Baylis, John Crump, James Wells, Robert Joyce, landlord of the Bear Inn, and John Ainsworth. There is a covering letter to the report from Gibbs in which he states the evidence given in the petition has no relation with the proof given at the trial so he has not commented upon it. Grounds for clemency: youth (age not given), previous good character has an aged mother now in 'extreme sorrow', a wife and 2 children to support and is in ill health[?]. Initial sentence: death. Recommendation: speaks in favour of mercy[?]. Folios 143-149.
