'Plan de la Bataille de Taisnière Donnée le 11me Sepe 1709 ...': map covering the area between Aulnois and Bavay, showing the Battle of Malplaquet (or Blaregnies)], fought between French forces under the Duke of Villars and combined British, Austrian and Dutch forces under Prince Eugene of Savoy and the Duke of Marlborough. Reference table to the progress of the battle. Title in a cartouche decorated with pikes and mortars. Scale: 8 inches to about 1 French league. Compass indicator in the form of a fleur-de-lis. The battlefield now lies across the border between France and Belgium, with Aulnois and Blaregnies being on the Belgian side and Malplaquet and Bavay on the French side.
