A circular map of the area between Parthenay, Lusignan, Saint-Jean-d'Angély, La Rochelle and Luçon, showing 'élection' boundaries, principal roads, rivers and bridges, forests, and named towns and villages, many represented by perspective drawings of churches and other buildings; eleven concentric circles each represent a distance of one French league from Niort, in the centre. The map continues south-eastward beyond the outermost circle to the River Charente. Decorative views of ships, castles, etc. Reference note on 'châtellanies' (i.e. 'castellanies' or areas under the governorship of a local castle) and other administrative divisions as of 1636. Scale: 1 inch to about 1 French league. Compass rose with four cardinal points labelled; east at the top. Painted by F Granier.
