China: Zhili (or Chih-li; now Hebei province). 'Sketch of the country adjoining the Taku Forts showing the advance of the Allied forces and operations form 1st to 21st August 1860': copy of a map of the environs of Xinhe, Beitang, Tanggu and Dagu (all now part of Tianjin). Reference tables to batteries, and to troop movements. Scale: 2 inches to 1 mile. Compass indicator. Originally enclosed in a letter from Lieutenant Colonel G F Mann, Royal Engineers, 25 August 1860; this letter is not filed with the map.
