China: Zhili (or Chih-li; now Hebei province): Dagu (now part of Tianjin). 'Plan of Lower North Taku Fort ...': copy of a plan and two sections, all on one sheet. Map to scale: 24 inches to 1 mile [1 inch to 220 feet or 1:2,640]; sections to scale: 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200] (horizontal); 1 inch to 50 feet [1:600] (vertical). Compass indicator. Sketches and drawn by Lieutenant F Hime, Royal Engineers. Originally accompanying a letter from Lieutenant Colonel G F Mann, Commanding Royal Engineer, 25 August 1860; the letter is not filed with this drawing.
