To the Right Honourable Charles [Mordaunt] Earl of Peterborow [i.e. Peterborough], and Monmouth, & c. This map of Africa, According to ye Newest and most Exact Observations is most Humbly Dedicated by your Lordship's most Humbler Servant H. Moll Geographer': also showing islands in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Title in a cartouche, with a coat of arms and figures intended to represent native peoples. Compass indicator. Printed for John, Bowles, Thomas Bowles, Robert Sayer and John King. Insets: (i) view of the Cape of Good Hope, with a reference table to buildings; (ii) bird's-eye view of the Fort of Good Hope; (iii) views of James Fort, on Saint Helena, and Cape Coast Fort (now in Ghana).
Mordaunt became Earl of Peterborough in 1697 and died in 1735; presumably the map was originally produced during that time.
