To the Right Honourable William Lord Cowper, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, This map of Asia According to the Newest and most Exact Observations is most Humbly dedicated by your Lordship's most Obedient Servant Herman Moll Geographer'. Title in a cartouche, with a coat of arms and oriental figures. Compass indicator. Printed for [John] Bowles and [Thomas] Bowles; [published and] sold by Moll, by Philip Overton and by John King. Insets: maps of: the Gulf of Smyrna (now Izmir, Turkey); Bombay (now Mumbai, India); the lower portion of the Hugli (Hooghly) River (in eastern India); Asia north of the Arctic Circle; Zhoushan (in China); Amoy (now Xiamen, China); and the Bosporus Strait, labelled incorrectly as the 'Hellespont' [i.e. the ancient name for the Dardanelles].
Earl Cowper died in 1723; this map presumably dates from in or before that year.
