Under section 5(1) of the Tithe Act 1936, each owner of tithe rentcharge (i.e. each person in whom legal estate in fee simple in the rentcharge was vested immediately before 2 October 1936) was obliged to transmit to the Tithe Redemption Commission details in writing of every tithe rentcharge not already redeemed
