Devon. 4 sheets of the Ordnance Survey six-inch County Series joined: parts of sheets [CXVII-CXVIII] and [CXXIII-CXXIV]; the combined map covering the area between Tamerton Foliot and Staddon. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Surveyed and contoured Captain Cameron, Royal Engineers, 1856; engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1859; outline by T McLeod, Junior, and writing by Robert Rollo; published 1859. MS title: 'Plan shewing proposed modification of the line of N.E. defences, Plymouth': coloured MS additions show the defence line and forts. Signed by William F Drummond Jervois, Assistant Inspector General of Fortifications, 19 April 1861. Originally accompanying a memorandum from the Inspector General of Fortifications to the officer commanding the Royal Engineers at Devonport, 19 April 1861, which was itself enclosed in a letter from Lieutenant H C Owen, Royal Engineers, 2 May 1861; neither the memorandum nor the letter is filed on this roll.
