Devon. Ordnance Survey twelve-inch Plymouth sheets [4 and 6] joined, together showing the area between Stonehouse, the Laira and Andurn Point. Reference table to parishes and wards. Scale: 12 inches to 1 mile. Surveyed and contoured by Captain Cameron, Royal Engineers, 1854-1855; engraved at the Ordnance Survey office, Southampton, 1857; sheet 6 published 31 December 1858. MS title: 'Plymouth Plan Shewing the Works Proposed for the Staddon Position': coloured MS additions show Fort Staddon and other defences in the Plymstock area. Signed by Captain E F DuCane, Royal Engineer, 23 November 1860; by William F Drummond Jervois, Assistant Inspector General of Fortifications, 23 November 1860; and by J F Burgoyne, Inspector General of Fortifications, 17 December 1860. A note, initialled by Mr Drummond Jervois, states that the defence scheme was approved by Queen [Victoria] on 29 December 1860.
